Woodticking Me Off

There are few times in my day where I have peace and quiet to think of odd things, most of these times come in the bathroom. Showers are often times for me to try to relax while questions that puzzle the universe pound on my noggin. For instance, woodticks.

Yes, woodticks. What purpose do woodticks serve? Why do you feel like you have them crawling all over you once you find one running for shelter and a good bloody spot to call home? Why is it satisfying to hear them pop in the pink ashtray once they’ve been caught? Maybe I am sadistic.

Pink ashtray. I don’t know where it was picked up along the way, but it is broken out every year as the woodticks death chamber. James prefers matches while I like the long lighter thingie I use to light candles. Matches and I never got along. People used to light my bunson burner in chemistry for me.

My mom found a tiny tick on her last week. She couldn’t get it out so she went to the clinic where they ripped out what they could and gave her a few pills to take. A deer tick. No bulls eye has formed, but we’re all keeping our eye on it. The over protective mama bear in me wants to keep the kids away from the house building project fearing they’d get one as well.

The kids are staying here this weekend with my mother in law. This is the big weekend where the house, that has been completely gutted, is coming down to the ground. James and I have been doing the demo almost completely by ourselves. My mom is usually busy with the kids and my brother kinda made it known they don’t want to help by saying that his wife didn’t want to get stuck watching kids every weekend all summer long. Not that I ever asked her to.

We had triplets and now we have to lay in that bed. We’ve tried to do this triplet parenting thing all by ourselves as much as possible. This leads me to being completely exhausted all of the time. I don’t mean to complain, I wouldn’t change a damn thing about our “situation.” At the same time, I don’t think we should be “punished” because of it. We have never had people lining up to help us, only people jokingly telling us that they hope we had help.

James and I are quite stubborn. Still,  gross me out and have woken me from a deep sleep twice this Spring. Ew.
