Imaginary Snow Storm 2008

Last week I wrote a bit about how my window is my only link to the outside world. Yes, dramatic but it’s more fun that way. This is the window. Things are a little rearranged in front of it since I decided to have the bar fridge brought back downstairs (big mistake - missing my stash of snacks!) and the glider was moved back over in front of this window. There is an identical window 2 feet to the left. *points*

In My Room

When I started that post last week I had planned on writing about the snow storm that had hit us the day before. We had plenty of warning when it came to the snow storm but James and my brother were both convinced that once the snow hit the ground that it would melt. Who could blame them? Saturday afternoon was gloriously sunny with temps in the 50’s. Plus, the weather guys were all claiming we’d only get 6 to 8 inches of snow.

This picture was snapped out my window on Sunday night shortly before the sun went down. Not that we saw the sun at all Sunday as it was snowing.

The Van

We ended up with over 2 feet of snow. I didn’t get another picture of my pitiful minivan when it was all said and done because James needed to use it to get to work and had to break out the snow blower to do it. I took pictures of him doing this, but it was too dark and my new camera wasn’t cooperating as much as I would’ve liked. Suppose I should read the book, but that would be work and I am very anti-work at the moment.

Emma’s school was canceled on Monday and we spent the day waiting for my mom to make it back to our house and watching people dig out. It took my mom 2 and a half hours to get back here. When she walked through the door the kids immediately demanded lunch. Aww they love her.

Winter Storm - April 6, 2008

As I sat in my room staring out the window I was surprised at how few people know that they need to fully dig their cars out of the 2+ feet of snow (more due to being plowed in) before they can drive off. Instead they would rock their vehicles back and forth trying to gun it out of the snow. More often than not it was a waste of gas and they had to break out the shovels in the end.

Thursday night brought in another snow storm. This time it wasn’t so much the amount of snow that we got but the wind that came along with it. Once again, Emma’s school was canceled. They spent part of the day “playing” in the snow, even if that meant not so much playing in the actual snow but playing with the snow.

Aftermath

So while I wait for the snow to melt and the brown grass to reappear I’ll just take pictures of my cats looking all cuddly.

And consider fixing the windows side of this computer as I really miss Photoshop and the ability to have the pictures taken off my memory card with the right information attached to it (ie date taken and the camera that took it). Or I could horrify all of  you with pictures of my nekkid belly! Maybe I’ll save that picture for later.
